GUIDING VALUES
At NLCA, our guiding values define who we are and how we live out our mission each day. Rooted in a Biblical worldview, these values shape our spiritual formation, academic environment, relationships, and service to others. Together, they reflect a progression of faith—from knowing God personally to living out His purpose faithfully.
CALLING
Calling begins with God’s invitation into a personal relationship with Him. Students are encouraged to respond in faith, learning first to follow God before seeking to lead. As they draw near to Him, they grow in understanding their identity, purpose, and dependence on God. Every other guiding value flows from this foundational response to God’s call.
CONSECRATION
Consecration is the intentional choice to set one’s life apart for God. Students are taught to pursue holiness, spiritual discipline, and a Christ-centered life. Through daily surrender and renewal of the mind, consecration nurtures a growing devotion to God and a commitment to live according to His truth.
CHARACTER
Character reflects the development of godly integrity, virtue, and moral responsibility. Students are challenged to live out their faith consistently—both publicly and privately—by loving God and others. Christlike character is cultivated through accountability, perseverance, and a growing desire to honor God in all areas of life.
COMPASSION
Compassion flows from the heart of Christ and is expressed through empathy, kindness, and action. Students learn to see others through God’s eyes and respond with mercy, patience, and love. Compassion shapes how our community serves, forgives, supports, and walks alongside others.
COMMISSION
Commission is the call to go and live out the gospel. Students are prepared to respond obediently to God’s purpose for their lives, equipped to serve, lead, and share their faith. Grounded in calling, consecration, character, and compassion, they are sent out to make an impact for Christ in their communities and beyond.
